Let's talk about energy drinks!

Energy drinks have been sold in Europe for at least a quarter-century, and these functional soft drinks have found a place in an active person's drink selection. Caffeinated stimulants are generally referred to as energy drinks. Despite their name, energy drinks do not contain more energy than other types of soft drinks. However, the substances in the energy drink assist the body in making better use of its existing energy reserves.

Most energy drinks contain sugars - sucrose, glucose, or high fructose corn syrup, to name a few. Sugar in energy drinks can contribute to obesity, dental problems, and mood swings.

Öun energy drinks are made from natural ingredients and are a healthier alternative to the sugar-loaded mainstream energy drinks mentioned above. We combined apple juice (the real thing, not concentrate) with natural caffeine from matcha/yerba mate tea and guarana. Our drink is a pure and honest source of natural energy, with no added sugar or sweetener. We choose only the sweetest apples and make juice from them; this is how the sweetness is obtained! In addition, our energy drink contains no taurine or vitamin B complex.

The natural caffeine in Öun energy drink comes from nature, specifically the following plants:

Guaraná is a climbing plant native to Brazil. Guaraná has large leaves and flower clusters and is best known for its seeds, which are about the size of a coffee bean. It is a stimulant that has been used for thousands of years as a medicinal plant by indigenous peoples in South America. Because of its high caffeine and tannin content, guarana has an invigorating effect on us. In addition to a better mood, Amazon rainforest residents noticed many other benefits from guarana, such as improved performance, a revival of natural fat burning, disease prevention, improved memory, and increased mood.

We continue in Latin America, which has a fantastic tea selection. Because of its high caffeine content, one of the most well-known of these, yerba mate, is a very potent central nervous system stimulant. The phytonutrients found in yerba mate have been linked to a variety of health benefits. Yerba mate, for example, contains antioxidants as well as beneficial natural nutrients, vitamins, and minerals.

We'll keep exploring the tea world, but this time on the other side of the Atlantic, in Japan and with Matcha. The natural caffeine in Matcha tea works in tandem with the amino acid L-theanine to provide up to six hours of energy without causing anxiety or caffeine tremors. Matcha tea is a superfood, with up to 6 times the antioxidants of goji berries, 17 times the antioxidants of blueberries, and 60 times the antioxidants of spinach. Matcha tea contains a variety of minerals, amino acids, and vitamins.

If you decide to treat yourself to an energy drink, keep the following in mind:

  • Do not confuse energy drinks with sports drinks.
  • Avoid consuming energy drinks while engaging in physical activity.
  • Never mix energy drinks with alcohol.
